Later we viewed the collection of Michael and Judy Ovitz.

That evening we were hosted for dinner at the Los Angeles home of Trish and George Vradenburg.

George, of course, is Chairman of the Board of The Phillips Collection.

The Vradenburgs' Los Angeles guests were generous enough to let the Easterners have the side of the table with the fantastic view.

Saturday morning we visited the J. Paul Getty Center.

Our first stop was the Paintings Conservation Studio. We were told that this life-size painting of "Clara," who toured for 17 years from Calcutta to Holland, was actually in very good shape. It is likely that it was removed from its stretcher in the mid-19th century, when it was rolled and stored in the basement of a museum in the former East Germany ever since.

This is an example of what the final result can be.

Before cleaning is begun, a test is made on a relatively inconspicuous area.

A zigzag path crisscrosses a stream eventually leading to a flowering maze.

We viewed an exhibit of Cezanne still life watercolors. Having visited his atelier in Saint-Remy, we realized that this photo probably shows all of his belongings that remain there. We were not permitted to photograph them there
