During an early trip to Sweden, I was puzzled why so many people in the corridors of the subways ("Tunnelbana") seemed to be walking on the "wrong side." Then I noticed that one reason was that the escalators and moving walkways were on the left. It turns out that it wasn’t that long ago that Sweden switched to driving on the right side of the road. They didn’t bother redoing all their switching systems just so passengers could view trains travelling in the opposite direction in the proper perspective—I had missed the fact that the trains were also going the "wrong way!"
