A German BFS guy that I hadn’t seen for a month asked me how things were going. I told him that we had settled in nicely but we were just finishing the insurance claims for the move. Particularly for a sofa that had just come back from the upholsterers the week before we moved (it took a couple of months and we didn’t know we were going when we sent it). It looked like it had been shipped at the bottom of the pile – the springs were sprung and the foam was bulging from the front.
I told him we have a saying that three moves are the same as one fire. He said that Germans have a similar one:
"Three moves are the same as one bombing."
